The people page

A /people
page is one solution to the problem of discovering new people online: crowdsourced human recommendation.
The idea is inspired by now pages and a newsletter by Robin Sloan, and I think you should make one!
The guidelines
A people page can take on a few forms:
- A webpage with a
/people
URL (i.e.example.com/people
) - A section of a webpage (i.e.
example.com/home#people
) - A webpage with any URL that shares cool people doing cool things
A people page should recommend people:
- Avoid sharing companies/organizations
- Sharing a group of people who are doing/creating cool things is okay
- Not sure where to draw the line? Make your best judgment call, it’s flexible :)
A people page can share anyone doing anything:
- Share websites, YouTube channels, blogs, podcasts, TikTok accounts, and so on!
- There are so many ways to share and express yourself on the internet
A people page can be styled/formatted however you like:
- Simple list or interactive infinite canvas, make your page however you please
- Just make sure you provide a direct link to the people you share
Keep updating the page as time goes on:
- Let it reflect the people and projects that you are currently enjoying
It takes a village
I hope for a future where a vast network of up-to-date personal recommendations exists on the web – people linking to people. I have no clue if this idea will catch on, but if it does, it will take a village.
Here’s my people page to start things off.
Looking forward to discovering the people that you currently enjoy.
